New Infrastructure
We are pleased to announce a comprehensive infrastructure modernization for the fedi.camp website and its associated services. The goal was to significantly improve the stability, security, and performance of our offerings. Here is an overview of the most important changes:
New Server Environment at Hetzner
Our services now run on vServers at Hetzner, a German hosting provider. This transition allows us more control, better scalability, and a reliable hardware base.
Security through OPNSense Firewall
An OPNSense firewall now protects between the internet and our internal network. This open-source firewall ensures robust protection against unwanted access and allows flexible management of network rules.
LAN Network with Central Services
Within our local network, we operate several important components:
CloudPanel as Web Proxy: CloudPanel takes on the role of the central web proxy. This allows us to efficiently control, secure, and optimize web traffic.
Migration of fedi.camp: The fedi.camp website has been successfully migrated from Codeberg to our new web proxy. This improves loading times and increases the availability of the site.
CrypPad Instance: For collaborative work, a dedicated CrypPad instance is now available on a separate vServer. CrypPad is a privacy-friendly online office solution that enables encrypted real-time collaboration.
Current Pretix Installation: For event management and ticket sales, we are using a fresh, current Pretix installation on its own vServer. This means we are well-equipped for upcoming events and offer our users a modern, reliable platform.
With this new infrastructure, we are creating a solid technical foundation to operate fedi.camp and its associated services in a future-proof, performant, and secure manner. We thank all users for their trust and look forward to further joint development.
